My dog used to inhale his food in seconds, but this insert has slowed him down to a reasonable pace. The silicone is soft but sturdy, and it stays put in his bowl without sliding around. Definitely makes mealtime more engaging for him.
It fits perfectly in our current bowl and doesn't pop out when my cat tries to dig around the edges. The silicone is easy to clean, but I wish the ridges were just a little taller for her super-fast eating pace.
